To all badminton game lover, I decided to write this down for sharing, coz I found that many of this game lover misunderstood or got confused on the tension on their racket.
Below are the facts.
1. The higher the tension u strung on ur racket, DOES NOT give u more power, but give u MORE CONTROL.
2. The higher the tension, the smaller the "sweet spot", hence, the lower the tension give bigger "sweet spot" of ur racket.
3. The higher the tension give higher risk on injury yourself.
4. The higher the tension will give high chance of the string eat into ur racket frame causing breaking frame.
Explanation.
A lot of beginner though that higher the tension give more power, well...it is NOT true. As I mentioned above, lower tension give bigger "sweet spot" on ur racket, which will let the beginner to hit the shuttle easily n produce optimum result for his/her stage.
As player moves on, they do not need that BIG area of the sweet spot, as he/she will seek playing on more control coz they can easily knew their racket sweet spot. Pro player strung their racket in super high tension, coz they seeking on control for their games, plus their accuracy on hitting the tiny sweet spot of their racket are very high in percentage. Yet to mention their power arm n wrist....from professional training everyday.
Higher tension also may coz injury to yourself if u cannot handle the backfire force from the shuttle when u hitting it. Imagine that if u using a flat board hitting the shuttle...how much vibration will backfire to ur wrist and shoulder? Advance player train their arm and wrist, where they can handle the force...so ask yourself some questions...
"How often do i train myself?"...
"Do i have a correct swing technique?"...
"After all these years I had played this game, did i experience any shoulder or wrist pain?"...
Higher tension will coz the high chance of the racket frame been eaten by the string. Ever encountered or seeing breaking the racket frame while playing?
Every racket have their own manufacturer recommended max tension. But lot of ppl ignoring it .....which later may coz the frame cracking or frame been "eaten"...
Oh...YES!!...pro player always strung it far more higher tension than the recommended......"of cox lar...they got sponsorship...sooo...don't mind on breaking some of it during competition or games or training.."
I know some of us does not like the recommended max tension, coz may be too low for us....BUT ask yourself some questions again....
"Do my stringer really good in stringing?"
"Do I really know if I strung like 24lbs means really 24lbs?"---->ever been verify by pro stringer before?
"Ever seen a real 24lbs like?"...---> coz a real 24lbs may be the high tension like 26lbs or 28lbs "feel" you been strung all these days...
To conclude these facts...
- Do not follow what other player high or what ever tension or type of string they strung...
-You yourself must find the right max tension for yourself only via by your own experiences...
-Train yourself in the proper way of swinging techniques to improve your games.
